Starting salaries depend greatly on the applicant's level of education, college major, other relevant work experience, and the degree of responsibility of the position.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that transportation, storage, and distribution managers earned a median salary of $99,200 in May 2023, with the lowest 10 percent earning less than $58,810 and the highest 10 percent earning more than $175,530. Shipping, receiving, and inventory clerks' salaries had a range of $30,620 to $58,310, with median earnings of $39,780.

According to Salary.com, the median annual income for traffic managers in December 2024 was $104,180. The lowest paid 10 percent earned $82,139 annually. The most experienced industrial traffic managers earned $134,416 a year.

Fringe benefits vary widely, depending on the type and size of the company, although most will include vacations and holiday pay, health insurance plans, and in some cases, tuition reimbursement plans.
