Marketing Managers

Outlook

Employment of marketing managers is expected to grow by 8 percent, faster than the average, through 2033, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As the influence of marketing in traditional print media continues to decline, many marketing firms are investing more heavily in digital media.

The outlook for the marketing industry is closely tied to the overall economy. When the economy is good, business expands both in terms of the firm's output and the number of people it employs, which creates a need for more managers. In economic downturns, firms often lay off employees and cut back on production, which lessens the need for managers. Even in difficult times, companies need highly skilled marketing managers to create and maintain marketing campaigns. Managers with strong digital media and social media skills will be in high demand.
