Mutual Fund Lawyers

Outlook

Job opportunities for attorneys who work for firms that deal with funds, trusts, and other financial vehicles are expected to have average employment growth through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Increasing regulation by the Securities & Exchange Commission, other federal agencies, and state regulatory agencies will continue to create demand for lawyers to assist mutual fund managers to analyze and comply with complex rules. In addition, as the DOL describes it, "...many large corporations are increasing their in-house legal departments in order to cut costs. ... This shift will lead to an increase in demand for lawyers in a variety of settings, such as financial and insurance firms, consulting firms, and healthcare providers." Competition for jobs will be keen. Lawyers who are flexible to relocate for job opportunities will improve their job prospects. Other opportunities may exist with government agencies or as self-employed lawyers.
