Orthotists and Prosthetists

Professional organizations for orthotists and prosthetists offer certification, education, and networking. These agencies include the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education, which helps professionals acquire the credentials to excel; the National Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics, which sets the standards for certification; the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, which holds an annual meeting that focuses on research, public policy, and other issues important to the field; and the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, which offers advocacy for professionals as well as visibility to prospective patients.
