Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists

Overview

Electroneurodiagnostic technologists, sometimes called EEG technologists, END technologists, or neurodiagnostic technologists, operate electronic instruments called electroencephalographs. These instruments measure and record the electrical activity arising from the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. The information gathered is used by physicians (usually neurologists) to diagnose and determine the effects of certain diseases and injuries, including brain tumors, cerebral vascular strokes, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, some metabolic disorders, and brain injuries caused by accidents or infectious diseases. This technology is also used to monitor patients during surgery.
