Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists

An ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, or otolaryngologist, provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients with diseases and disorders that involve or affect the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Fifty percent of all physician office visits are for ear, nose, and throat illnesses. Many ENT specialists operate in private practices, and some work in large academic/university settings where they help train medical students and residents. The American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery represents approximately 13,000 ENT specialists.
