Edupreneurs

For as long as there have been schools and other forms of education, there have been people who developed products and services to improve the educational experience. In the 1960s and 1970s, a variety of experimental schools were founded in the U.S. to provide innovative educational approaches to students. Many of these academic institutions no longer exist, but a few (such as the Sudbury Valley School, which was founded in 1968 in Framingham, Massachusetts) still thrive today. Technology has had a major impact on edupreneurism. High-speed Internet, online video communication and collaboration technology, the emergence of social media, and other technical developments have created new product and services options for edupreneurs and have made it easier—and less expensive—to reach current and potential customers.
