According to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), geoscientists (which includes geophysicists) earned an average annual salary of $91,130 in May 2018. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $49,430 per year, while the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $187,990 annually. The average salary for a geophysicist working for state government agencies was $76,670. Hydrologists earned salaries that ranged from less than $48,820 to $122,890 or more.
