Health Care Consultants

Outlook

Employment for management consultants who work in the health care industry is expected to grow by 11 percent through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), much faster than the average for all careers. The health care industry is the largest employment sector in the United States, and regardless of the health of the U.S. economy, there will always be a need for expertise in this rapidly changing field. Job opportunities will as a result of the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Hospitals, health insurance companies, and medical practitioners continue to seek out health care consultants to provide advice on complying with the various provisions of the act. The pharmaceutical and biotech industry is increasingly hiring consultants to provide them with advice as they seek to develop blockbuster drugs and navigate the complex regulatory process that is part of bringing new products to market. On the other hand, consultants are also being hired by politicians and groups that oppose the act and who seek its repeal.
