Salaries of health care managers depend on the type of facility, geographic location, the size of the administrative staff, budget, and the policy of the governing board. The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the median annual earnings of medical and health services managers were $110,680 in May 2023. Salaries ranged from less than $67,900 to more than $216,750. Fifty percent of health care managers earned between $86,080 and $157,640. The mean salary of health care managers who worked in hospitals was $145,390, and those who worked in nursing care facilities earned $106,520.

Some administrators receive free meals, housing, and laundry service, depending on the facility in which they are employed. They usually receive paid vacations and holidays, sick leave, hospitalization and insurance benefits, and pension programs. The executive benefits package nowadays often includes management incentive bonuses based on job performance ranging from $25,000 to $225,000.
