Online Producers

Unions and Associations

Online producers are not typically represented by unions. Medill School of Journalism, founded in 1921 and a part of Northwestern University, prides itself on "multimedia storytelling" that "is integrated through all reporting classes." The multimedia stories created by graduate students are distributed to both traditional as well as online media. Online News Association (ONA) is a nonprofit, membership organziation for digital journalists that connects journalism, technology, and innovation. Its members educate each other through webinars, an annual conference, and a Web site. The Poynter Institute teaches journalism to all levels from middle school through graduate school and beyond on its St. Petersburg, Florida, campus; in newsrooms worldwide; and online through hundreds of self-directed courses, online group seminars, Webinars, online chats, podcasts, and video tutorials.
