In the course of their work, solutions architects have many opportunities to work with senior and executive management, and those who make a good impression can advance rapidly at their employers. An experienced solutions architect can advance to the position of lead solutions architect, who oversees other SAs and takes on more complex project management duties. Lead solutions architects can become chief technology officers, who assess new technology and determine how it can help their organizations. Chief technology officers with both business and technological acumen can become chief information officers (CIO),who are responsible for all aspects of their organization’s Information Technology. A highly experienced CIO might become the CEO or chief operating officer of his or her company.
