Work Environment
Space port managers work in offices, as well as outdoors in industrial environments near launch pads and in other potentially dangerous areas. They often work more than 40 hours a week (including at night and on weekends) to be present for launches or to support other critical operations. Space port managers occasionally travel to the offices or headquarters of their employers to meet with executives, elected officials, regulators, members of the media, or others. This career can be stressful due to the stress of launching and recovering multi-million-dollar satellites, spaceships, and other spacecraft.
