Phlebotomy Technicians

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) reports that employment opportunities for phlebotomy technicians are expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2033. "Blood analysis remains an essential part of medical care, as it is used to check for a wide range of issues," according to the DOL. "Therefore, demand for phlebotomists will remain high as doctors and other healthcare professionals require bloodwork for analysis and diagnosis."

Demand is expected to be especially strong in home health care services and ambulatory care facilities. As the percentage of our population age 65 or older continues to rise, the need for all kinds of health care professionals will increase as well. There is growing demand for workers who are qualified to draw blood at the bedside of patients.
