High school students who are interested in flying may join a high school aviation club. They might even consider taking flying lessons at their local airport or, at least, trying out a flight simulator. Visit https://www.aopa.org/training-and-safety/learn-to-fly for information on learning to fly. Those who are between the ages of 13-20 can become student members of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Members receive Flight Training magazine and access to aviation scholarships and a college aviation directory. Other ways to learn more about this career include participating in information interviews with pilots and getting involved in summer exploration programs in aviation that are offered by colleges and universities.
