Production workers in pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing, which includes biotechnology production workers, averaged approximately $19.04 per hour in May 2017 (or $44,870 annually), according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The pay range for these employees is broad, depending on the size of the firm, the shift to which the worker is assigned, years at the company, and the geographic location of the plant. Some workers may earn as little as minimum wage ($7.25 an hour, or $15,080 annually). Overtime compensation is usually equal to time and a half or double time.
