Building Automation Systems Engineers

Work Environment

Building automation systems engineers work in offices, where buildings are being constructed, or in completed buildings in which automation systems will be installed, repaired, or upgraded. Work conditions can be demanding. As a result, engineers must be in good physical shape because they often climb stairs and/or ladders, work in tight spaces, and occasionally walk outdoors at construction sites on uneven terrain for long distances.
