Dental Assistants

Outlook

Employment for dental assistants is expected to grow faster than the average for all careers from 2023 to 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. As the population grows and more people become eligible for health insurance as a result of federal health insurance reform, more people will seek dental services for preventive care and cosmetic improvements. Also, as dentists increase their knowledge of innovative techniques such as implantology and periodontal therapy, they generally delegate more routine tasks to assistants so they can make the best use of their time and increase profits. Job openings will also be created through attrition as assistants leave the field or change jobs.
