According to Salary.com, staff nurses in emergency rooms earned salaries that ranged from less than $61,513 to $94,227 or more in October 2024. They earned a median salary of $77,118. Head nurses in emergency rooms earned salaries that ranged from less than $84,121 to $129,468 or more.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, registered nurses working in hospitals, which includes ER nurses, earned a mean annual wage of $88,430 in May 2023. Ten percent of registered nurses earned less than $63,720.

Employers usually provide health and life insurance, and some offer educational reimbursements and year-end bonuses to their full-time staff.
