Medical laboratory technicians who work for government agencies can join the American Federation of Government Employees, a union that represents government workers. The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences accredit postsecondary laboratory science programs. Medical laboratory technicians can join the American Association of Bioanalysts, American Medical Technologists, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the Clinical Laboratory Management Association. These organizations provide networking opportunities, certification, publications, and continuing education classes and workshops, among many other resources.
