Nurse Assistants

Outlook

Employment of nursing assistants is projected to grow by 4 percent from 2023 through 2033, as fast as the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Job opportunities for nurse assistants who work in the home health care sector are expected to increase by 20.6 percent during this time span. This is much faster than the average for all careers. Because of the physical and emotional demands of the job, and because of the lack of advancement opportunities, there is a high employee turnover rate. Additional opportunities may be available as different types of care facilities are developed and as facilities try to curb operating costs. In addition, more nurse assistants will be required as government and private agencies develop more programs to assist people with disabilities, dependent people, and the increasing aging population.
