Office Administrators

One of the tasks of an office administrator is to bring the members of his or her department or organization together for better communication and higher productivity. So it is not surprising that office administrators have tried to do the same thing for their profession, creating a number of professional organizations to share information and increase the skill levels of their fellow administrators. The American Management Association emphasizes skills training in such areas as business writing, human resources management, strategic planning, and thinking and innovation. The Institute of Certified Professional Managers focuses on training programs that lead to the certified manager designation or a certificate in the foundations of management. The goal of the International Association of Administrative Professionals is "to ensure individuals working in office and administrative professions have the opportunity to connect, learn, lead, and excel." Junior Achievement USA is based on a belief in the great potential of young people and a commitment to the principles of market-based economics and entrepreneurship. The National Management Association is a leadership development organization with chapters concentrated in the central, southeastern, southwestern, and northwestern states, as well as California. The International Facility Management Association focuses on the concerns of managers who are involved in building operations and maintenance, managing projects related to building grounds, equipment, and supplies, and dealing with environmental problems.
