Sports Physicians

Exploring This Job

A good way to learn more about the sports physicians field is by working with the physician, coach, or athletic trainer for a school's team. Firsthand experience is the best way to gain fresh perspective into the role of the team physician. Later on, when applying for other paid or volunteer positions, it will help to have already had sports-related experience. Try to work with a physician in your target practice area, such as with a college team or with a professional sports team. Observing physicians in their offices or on the sidelines as they treat athletes will give you a good introduction to the field.
