The U.S. Department of Labor predicts employment growth for private detectives and investigators, a related field, will be faster than the average for all careers through 2028. Employment for bounty hunters is expected to be good in the coming years, although this field has a narrow niche in the bail bonding business. Competition among bail enforcement agents continues to propel the field as a profession and as an asset to our legal system. Because bail bond agents and bail enforcement agents work in private business, there is no cost to the taxpayer for the apprehension of these fugitives (as there would be if, for example, police officers worked exclusively on these cases). Another benefit of the private bail enforcement agent system is its high success rate (some professionals estimate it at 85 percent) for recovery of fugitives. Given the large percentage of recoveries and the lack of cost to local government, the future looks good for this profession. The ability of bail enforcement agents to work successfully within the parameters of the law should keep this field growing steadily in the future.
