It takes many years of training to become a doctor, but earnings are among the highest of any occupation. According to the Medscape Plastic Surgeon Compensation Report 2023, the average salary for plastic surgeons was $619,000.

Cosmetic surgeons earned average salaries of $219,000 in 2024, according to PayScale.com. Annual pay ranged from $197,000 to $303,000 or more.

Cosmetic surgeons, and physicians in general, enjoy generous health care benefits. Other benefits may include recruitment bonuses, reimbursement for continuing education, and forgiveness of school loans. Although they work long hours throughout the year, physicians are often granted several weeks paid vacation and other leave time as relief from the demanding jobs they have.
