Directors of Corporate Sponsorship

Outlook

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reports that, in 2023, there are more than 1.8 million nonprofit organizations including public charities and private organizations, and donations from individuals, foundations and businesses were in excess of $697.1 billion (according to several sources, including the IRS). These statistics demonstrate the potential for corporate giving and sponsorship opportunities, and the need for professionals to effectively create and manage corporate sponsorship programs.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) does not have specific data for directors of corporate sponsorship. However, some of their work is similar to that which is done by fundraising managers; fundraisers; and advertising, promotions, and marketing managers. The DOL reports that job opportunities for fundraising managers are expected to increase by 6 percent (faster than the average for all careers) from 2023 to 2033. The DOL says that "fundraising managers are expected to become increasingly important for organizations, such as colleges and universities, that depend heavily on donations." Faster-than-average growth is expected for fundraisers and marketing managers from 2023 through 2033, while employment for advertising and promotions directors is expected to decline.
