The only ranking category in which developers received a “fair” score was “workplace stress.” The occupation received a “6” out of “10” (the best numerical ranking) in regard to stress. Factors that can create a stressful work environment include tight deadlines, coding and testing challenges, unrealistic expectations by supervisors, frequent changes to software specifications by clients, and too much overtime.
