Obstetricians/Gynecologists

Unions and Associations

Several leading organizations serve the needs of obstetricians and gynecologists (OB/GYNs). For example, the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) has a Web site that offers the answers to frequently asked questions about the profession; information on how to find an OB/GYN or check the certification of one; descriptions of the various OB/GYN subspecialties; and information on other organizations involved in the certification of OB/GYNs.

With roots dating back to 1951, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is a professional organization dedicated to improving women's health. Its Web site includes information for both physicians and patients.

Finally, the mission of the American Medical Association is "to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health."
