Employment for medical appliance technicians is expected to grow by 11 percent or more through 2028, which is much faster than the average for all careers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Pedorthic associations report that employment opportunities for certified pedorthists will grow due to the increase in the elderly population, the growing availability of health insurance, and the increases in obesity and diabetes, which can cause foot problems.
