Physiatrists

Physicians have among the highest average earnings of any occupational group. Individual physician's salaries vary depending on specialty, skill, years of experience, professional reputation, as well as the region of the country where they practice.

In 2025, physiatrists who were employed in the United States earned a median salary of $267,100, according to Salary.com. The lowest paid 10 percent earned $218,575, and the top 10 percent earned $325,942 or more.

Salaried physiatrists usually earn benefits such as health and dental insurance, paid vacations, and the opportunity to participate in retirement plans. Self-employed physiatrists usually have higher median incomes than salaried doctors, although they are also responsible for covering the costs of their health insurance and retirement. Self-employed physiatrists must provide their own benefits.
