Respiratory therapists earned median annual salaries of $80,450 in May 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $61,900, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $108,820. Fifty percent of respiratory therapists earned between $68,410 and $95,530.

Respiratory therapists receive benefits that include health insurance, paid vacations and sick leave, and pension plans. Some institutions provide additional benefits, such as uniforms and parking, and offer free courses or tuition reimbursement for job-related education.
