Some engineers may be represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, American Federation of Government Employees, and other unions. In addition, there are many other organizations that provide useful resources. The Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals, American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice offer certification and a variety of other professional resources. Other useful organizations include the Air and Waste Management Association and the National Association of Clean Air Agencies. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is a federal agency that is tasked with protecting the environment.
