Certification or Licensing

Anesthesiologist assistants can receive certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiology Assistants. Candidates for the certification exam must be at least 21 years old, have graduated from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited educational program for anesthesiology assistants, be practicing or eligible to practice as an anesthesiology assistant in the United States, or be a student in good standing at an accredited school and graduating within 180 days of the certifying exam.
