Salaries for data scientists ranged from $61,070 to $184,090 or more in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). They had mean annual earnings of $119,040. Mean salaries for data scientists are much higher than the average ($65,470) for all workers in the United States. Mean earnings vary by employer. Big data engineers earn salaries that range from $122,000 to $174,250, according to Robert Half Technology’s Salary Guide for Technology Professionals. The recruiting firm provides the following salary ranges for other careers in data science:

  • data architects: $134,500 to $186,500
  • database managers: $122,250 to $170,000
  • data analysts: $93,000 to $134,000
  • data warehousing analysts: $89,250 to $134,250

Protecting all the data that is collected by insurance agencies, banks, government agencies, and retail businesses is extremely important. Salaries for information security analysts ranged from less than $69,210 to $182,370 or more in May 2023, according to the DOL. Those who worked for data processing and related firms earned average salaries of $115,120.
