Enterprise Architects

Outlook

There will continue to be strong demand for enterprise architects in the next decade because of the massive amounts of data being generated and the growing complexity of the technology needed to conduct business or meet other organizational goals. Enterprise architects have proven records of helping organizations reduce costs, save time, and meet short- and long-term goals, so these professionals will always be in demand. Enterprise architects with considerable experience at well-known employers, substantial track records of success, and knowledge of artificial intelligence (which will increasingly be used to automate some enterprise architecture processes) will have the best job prospects. The data intelligence firm Gartner estimates that 50 percent of the enterprise architect programs on the market now use artificial intelligence software for assurance, planning, governance, and IT asset management.

In 2021, the career of enterprise architect ranked fourth on GlassDoor.com’s list of occupations that received the highest worker ratings in terms of earning potential (median annual base salary), overall job satisfaction rating, and the number of job openings.
