Full Stack Developers/Engineers

Work Environment

Full stack developers work in typical business environments. They work in offices, in server rooms, and in other settings. Some developers travel regularly. They may need to go to the offices of clients to discuss new projects or work on existing ones.

This job can occasionally be stressful when deadlines loom; proposed IT solutions do not work as envisioned; when developers and managers disagree about software architecture, development techniques, or other issues; and when there is unwarranted pressure from upper-level executives, who may not have an understanding of their work and the time and staff requirements needed to complete a project.

A survey of full stack developers in 2024 by PayScale.com found that 82 percent were “highly satisfied” with their careers. Many developers enjoy this occupation because of the high pay and the opportunity to be on the cutting-edge of technology.
