Licensed practical nurses earned median annual salaries of $59,730 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Ten percent earned less than $45,670, and 10 percent earned more than $77,870. Fifty percent of LPNs earned between $50,640 and $67,140. Many LPNs are able to supplement their salaries with overtime pay and shift differentials.

Licensed practical nurses who are employed full time also usually receive fringe benefits, such as paid sick, holiday, and vacation time, medical coverage, 401(k) plans, and other perks depending on the employer.
