Unions and Associations

There are several professional associations that provide information, support, and advocacy to cardiovascular technicians. The mission of the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP), with 3,000 members, is to promote the recognition of its members' specialties and to promulgate standards for providers of their services. The American Medical Association (AMA), which is the largest professional association serving physicians and surgeons, has a section on its Web site for students interested in the medical profession. The purpose of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is to promote quality care and patient safety through the certification and continuing competency of ultrasound professionals. Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) lists job postings on its Web site.
