Earnings

Entrepreneurs in the United States earned salaries that ranged from $11,500 to $396,500 or more in 2024, according to ZipRecruiter.com. They received median annual earnings of $81,729.

A highly successful entrepreneur who develops and markets an extremely popular product or service—or who operates a popular retail business or franchise—can earn millions of dollars in annual revenue. But this level of earnings is the exception, rather than the rule, for most entrepreneurs.

Some entrepreneurs work in other positions while they build their businesses. In this scenario, they would receive fringe benefits (health insurance, paid vacation and sick days, etc.) from their employer. An entrepreneur who does not have another position does not receive fringe benefits and must pay for his or her own health insurance and other benefits.
