Salaries for physical therapists depend on experience, geographic location, and type of employer. Physical therapists earned a median annual salary of $99,710 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest 10 percent earned $72,260 and the top 10 percent earned $130,870 or more a year. Fifty percent of physical therapists earned between $81,970 and $113,630.

Physical therapists who work for a company or a government agency usually receive benefits such as vacation days, sick leave, health and life insurance, and a savings and pension program. Self-employed therapists must provide their own benefits.
