The U.S. Department of Labor predicts average employment growth for all writers and authors through 2032. Online publications and services will continue to grow, and there should be ongoing need for writers with Web and multimedia experience. Bear in mind that it will be challenging to establish a full-time career as a blogger since many people want to become bloggers. There are hundreds of millions of blogs on the Internet, and only a few bloggers have a large enough following that allows them to earn a living in this field. Most bloggers work part time, while working as journalists, technical writers, editors, teachers, or in nonwriting positions in various industries.

In addition to the use of emerging technologies like generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR), blogging was being transformed in other ways during the mid-to-late 2020s. A March 2024 BLOGGINGFY article by Netranand Meshram indicated that, in response to the evolving preferences of readers, more blogs were gravitating away from text-only formats to include multimedia. These included the incorporation of more visuals and audio to provide an interactive experience. Additionally, some blogs were becoming podcasts and video blogs (vlogs). Specialized or niche blogs, as well as those offering longer-form content, were growing in popularity.

"The future of blogging is likely to see increased integration of AI and machine learning for content creation, increased emphasis on video content, and more interactive content," echoed Bethany Clark in a 2024 Teachable article. "These advancements could make blogs more personalized and immersive, enhancing user engagement. This future is also increasingly mobile and voice-search oriented, pushing blogs to become more adaptable to how content is consumed. Whether it’s through smart speakers or smartphones, ensuring your blog is accessible and optimized for all formats is essential for meeting your audience where they are, in the way they prefer."
