Chief Trust Officers

Employment Prospects

Employers

Chief trust officers are employed by companies in every industry, but they are most likely to work for big businesses with a large executive corps and many specialized positions. Opportunities are available throughout the country but are best in large cities.

Starting Out

Since the career of chief trust officer has existed for less than a decade, and it is still evolving, the entry method varies by company. Some companies choose to expand the duties of current chief product officers, chief data officers, chief risk officers, chief customer officers, or chief information security officers to cover trust issues, or transition workers in these positions into the CTO role. Other businesses promote promising workers from lower-level positions in these aforementioned areas to the CTO role. And, of course, some companies may already have chief trust officers.

Aspiring CTOs can learn about job opportunities by using the services of an executive recruiter, attending online and in-person networking events and career fairs, utilizing the resources of professional associations, and by contacting companies directly about openings.
