Traffic managers must have strong organizational and management skills and the ability to communicate clearly with various staff members and advertising agency clients in all levels. Multitaskers who can keep track of schedules as well as information that can change frequently, and also at the last minute, do well in this type of work. Problem-solving skills are frequently called on. Professionalism and diplomacy are also required to effectively work with various personalities to accomplish project goals. Knowledge of project management software and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint, is required for many traffic manager jobs. Traffic managers usually have several years of prior experience as a coordinator or assistant in traffic management or creative services.
