The U.S. Department of Labor does not provide an employment outlook for NOC engineers, but it does offer information for the related field of network and computer systems administration. Job opportunities for network and computer systems administrators who are employed by computing infrastructure providers, data processing, web hosting, and related services providers are expected to increase by 19.5 percent from 2023 to 2033. This is much faster than the average for all careers. Demand is growing for NOC engineers as result of the increasing size and complexity of computer networks, the growing number of cyberattacks on IT infrastructure, and the emergence of the Internet of Things, which will connect even more devices to networks.
