Unions and Associations

Organizations the provide education, certification, and career support for preventive medicine professionals include the American Association of Public Health Physicians, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, American College of Preventive Medicine, and the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research.

The American Medical Association (AMA) is the largest association of physicians—both M.D.s and D.O.s—and medical students in the United States. The AMA helps students with finding financial aid, choosing a specialty, and understanding issues such as medical ethics. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is a not-for-profit association representing all accredited U.S. medical schools and represents the schools, students and residents. It provides pertinent information for medical students. The American Osteopathic Association offers networking, advocacy, and educational opportunities. Many more organizations exist, including some that serve physicians by state.
