Much-faster-than-average employment growth is expected for software developers (including visual interaction designers) from 2020 to 2030, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The DOL says that “the need for new applications on smart phones and tablets will help increase the demand for software developers.” Additionally, the staffing firm Robert Half recently included developers in its list of “Critical Technology Roles."
