Visual Interaction Designers

Unions and Associations

Visual interaction designers do not typically belong to unions, but many join professional associations. One popular organization for designers is the Interaction Design Association (IxDA), a global network of more than 120,000 individuals and over 200 local groups. The association offers annual conferences in North America, Latin America, and Europe; provides Interaction Design Awards that recognize excellence in the field; and offers other resources and benefits. The IxDA also has a presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, and aspiring and current designers should follow the organization on these social media channels. Other noteworthy organizations include the Association for Computing Machinery, CompTIA, DevOps Institute, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, IEEE Computer Society, (ISC)², and User Experience Professionals Association International
