Unions and Associations
Some engineers are represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers and other unions.
The Building Performance Association is one of the main organizations for BPDs. It offers membership for students and professionals, continuing education (CE) classes, publications (such as the BPA Journal), news, and job listings at its Web site. The Building Performance Institute provides certification and educational certificates, and the Green Building Initiative offers certification and CE opportunities. Other useful national organizations include the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers; Association of Energy Engineers; and the U.S. Green Building Council. There are also organizations at the state and local levels, such as the Building Performance Contractors Association of NYS.
