The work of citizenship reclamation specialists has existed in some form for many years, but demand for these professionals increased after World War II due to the massive numbers of people who were forcibly removed (and had their citizenship revoked) or fled from countries such as Germany, Poland, and Russia. Today, a growing number of people are seeking to reclaim citizenship to reconnect with their heritage and enjoy visa-free travel, work rights in their country of origin, and other benefits. Others are interested in doing so to qualify to leave their current country because of political or civil unrest or other factors.
