Holistic Physicians

Most holistic physicians do not belong to unions, but some may be represented by the Doctors Council SEIU and the Union of American Physicians and Dentists. Those in this field can join professional organizations, such as the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, American Herbalists Guild (AHG), American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, American Botanical Council, American Herbal Products Association, Herb Research Foundation, and the Herb Society of America. These organizations provide publications, continuing education opportunities, networking events, conferences, career information, and other resources. The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, American Board of Integrative Medicine, and the AHG provide certification. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health is a federal agency that conducts scientific research on medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine.
